9 Unlikely Signs You Are a Morning Person

I am a morning person.

Anyone who’s ever lived with me would likely scoff at this & call my bluff. But that’s only because our cultural definition of a “morning person” is some type-a go-getter who is up before the sun & immediately on to conquer the daily to-do list.

I am a morning person in the way I appreciate the quality of predawn light & absolute stillness. By the purposeful slowness I move with when I rise. Which sometimes isn’t until late, late morning.

So I hereby claim that a morning person is not so much one who is most energetic & productive from 4-7am. But one who meets the following standards instead:

A morning person wakes right on time, exactly when their body is ready. No alarm clock needed.

A morning person has no qualms with lingering long in bed to savor the comfort of warm blankets & recalling dreams.

A morning person moves slow & sings quiet praises to the rising sun (or moon & stars if they are still out).

A morning person adheres to a simple routine that fosters creativity & fills them with inspiration.

A morning person prioritizes their first cup of coffee & sips it slow before doing anything of obligation. Even if takes hours.

A morning person knows what it is to sit still & breathe deep.

A morning person is never in a rush & always has enough time.

A morning person appreciates silence, stretches, fresh pastry & possibility of another new day.

A morning person loves rituals, fresh beginnings, and witnessing the world come to life.

Are you a morning person too?

Morning Person Ritual

  • Wake when your body is rested & get out of bed only when you feel ready.
  • Go to your sacred space & sit still for 15 minutes. Can be in front of an altar, in your garden, anywhere you feel at peace. Just focus on your breath & gratefully welcome in the new day.
  • Make yourself a warm beverage of choice. Sip slowly while you continue morning practice.
  • Draw a tarot card with the intention of “what does today have in store?”
  • Check astrological influences for the day. Make note of what sticks out.
  • Spend some time reflective journaling on your intention, tarot guidance, horoscope, and any dreams you had.
  • Invite in some intuitive movement – stretching, shaking, dancing – whatever feels good to you today.
  • When your sacred solitude feels complete, move ahead with the rest of the day more centered in yourself.
